Basic Format for Referencing Information From a Book Section

 

Details to be recorded when you reference information from a book section:

 

Author. Title of section. In: Editors. Book Title. Edition. City: Publisher; Year.      

 

 


Details to be recorded when you reference information from a book section without an author (ebook example):

 

Title of section. In: Editors. Book title [type of medium]. Edition. City: Publisher; Year [date of access]. Available from: Database/URL

Using the Vancouver style downloaded from the Library Web Site

Section, part or contribution in an edited book - with named author(s)

Curtis TC. The nervous system. In: Rubin R, Strayer DS. Editors. Rubin's pathology: clinicopathologic foundations of medicine.  5th ed. Philadelphia: Wolters Kluwer/Lippincott Williams & Wilkins; 2007.

Reference Type: Book Section

In the ‘Author’ field enter the author of the section.

In the ‘Editor’ field enter details of the editor(s) of the whole book.

Use the ‘Title’ field for the title of the section or part.

Use the ‘Book Title’ field for the title of the whole book. Add [Internet] if it is an eBook.

Add date you accessed the book to the 'Date of Access' field.

In the 'Name of Database' field enter the name of the Library database.

If there is no author omit the author statement - eBook example
